A Symphony of Ingredients: Let’s start with the star of our dish: wide rice noodles. These silky, flat noodles serve as the foundation of our Pad See Ew. We’ll pair them with your choice of protein, whether it’s succulent chicken, flavorful beef, or protein-packed tofu. To elevate the dish further, we’ll add the vibrant crunch of Chinese broccoli, balancing the flavors and textures beautifully. And of course, no Pad See Ew is complete without the irresistible blend of sauces, including dark soy sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, vinegar, and sugar.
Simple Instructions for Success:
Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the dark soy sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, vinegar, and sugar. Mix well and set aside, allowing the flavors to meld together.
Cook the Noodles: Follow the instructions on the packet to cook the wide rice noodles. Once cooked, drain them and set them aside, ready to be stir-fried to perfection.
Season the Protein: Season your choice of protein (chicken, beef, or tofu) with salt, ensuring it is evenly coated and ready to infuse the dish with its delicious flavors.
Sauté and Stir-Fry: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for a minute, filling your kitchen with an irresistible aroma. Add the seasoned protein to the skillet and cook until it’s browned and cooked through. Remove it from the skillet and set it aside.
Veggie Delight: Now, it’s time to stir-fry the Chinese broccoli. Start with the stems, stir-frying until they’re tender-crisp, and then add the leafy greens for a burst of vibrant color. Push the protein and veggies to one side of the skillet and create space for the lightly beaten eggs. Scramble the eggs until they’re slightly runny, adding another layer of richness to the dish.
Bringing It All Together: Move the protein and veggies to a plate and set them aside. In the same skillet, heat a bit more oil, and add the drained rice noodles. Pour the prepared sauce over the noodles and toss everything together, ensuring the noodles are coated in the flavorsome sauce. Return the cooked protein and veggies to the skillet and stir-fry for another minute, allowing all the ingredients to meld together.
Adjust and Garnish: Give your Pad See Ew a taste and adjust the seasoning according to your preference. If you desire more depth of flavor, add a bit more soy sauce or brown sugar. Once you’re satisfied, it’s time to garnish. Sprinkle some fresh cilantro over the dish for a burst of freshness, and if desired, serve with lime wedges. Squeeze some lime juice over the noodles before savoring each delectable bite.
Serving and Enjoying: Now that your Pad See Ew is complete, it’s time to serve and savor this Thai delight. Enjoy the medley of flavors and textures as you indulge in the tender noodles, savory protein, and crisp Chinese broccoli. Let the tantalizing combination of sweet, salty.
