Ingredients

  • 8 oz beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp sake
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp potato starch
  • 10 oz broccoli
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp garlic minced
  • 1 tsp ginger grated
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp sesame seeds

Sauce

  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp mirin

Instructions

  • Create the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together sauce ingredients until well combined. This will form a luscious sauce that coats the beef and broccoli.
  • Prepare the Beef: Slice the beef into thin strips against the grain. This will ensure tenderness in each bite. Add 1 tsp soy sauce, 1 tsp sake, 2 tsp potato starch and toss.
  • Sauté the Aromatics: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet, stirring continuously for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Sauté the Beef: Add beef to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until browned. Ensure not to overcrowd the pan to allow for proper browning. Transfer beef to a plate, and set aside.
  • Sauté the Broccoli: In the same skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli and cook for about 6 minutes.
  • Combine the Ingredients: Add beef, Pour the sauce over the beef and broccoli, ensuring all ingredients are evenly coated. Continue cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and clings to the beef and broccoli.
  • Pour sesame oil and sprinkle sesame seeds.
